Improve PUBG Visibility Guide (Spot Enemies Faster) [Nov 2024] (2024)

Many will agree that it’s vital to spot your enemies before they spot you in PUBG.

So, one of the best ways to make sure you’re competitive in Battlegrounds is to improve how well and how fast you can see your enemies in the game.

Let’s dive in..

The Best Settings for Visibility in PUBG

If you haven’t already, I’d recommend starting off by reading our PUBG Settings for Maximum FPS guide, which will have your game running as fast as possible.

If you’ve optimized your game as illustrated in the optimization guide, then you should be already doing pretty well.

Here are some settings that you can tweak in-game to see people better, and spot your enemies faster.

In Game Settings for Visibility

Brightness: I’d make sure to set your brightness up a little.. most people seem to prefer a value between 60 and 70.

Shadows: setting this to LOW will ensure that indoor shadows brighter than normal, while avoiding them looking blocky and pixelated, as you would get on VERY LOW. No dark corners for your enemies to hide in.

Post-Processing: set this to VERY LOW. It will remove some ambient occlusion, and make the colors in-game “flatter” which is good to spot enemies.

View Distance: ULTRA will give you the longest possible viewing distance, this is mainly for buildings, but I’d still set it to the maximum so you can be aware of what’s around you.

FpsCameraFov (FPP only): this changes the field of view in first person – it makes a pretty big difference in the “amount of stuff” that will fit on your screen, so we have a whole article comparing different FpsCameraFov settings.

Using Nvidia Digital Vibrance for Visibility

Now that ReShade is not allowed anymore, your best bet is using Nvidia’s Digital Vibrance. To do that, check out our article on how to use Digital Vibrance for visibility in PUBG.

Improving Visibility with ReShade

Update ReShade is not allowed anymore in PUBG!

WARNING (31st Jan 2018): Starting from the upcoming patch that’s being tested on the Test Servers, ReShade will be considered cheating. Check out our guide on How to Uninstall ReShade if you already have it.

If you wanna take things to the next level in terms of visibility in PUBG, I recommend using Reshade.

ReShade is a free utility that allows you to change certain visual aspects of your game. I know what you’re thinking, but don’t worry: ReShade is completely safe to use!

How to Use Reshade

  1. Go tohttps://reshade.me/.
  2. Click “Download”.
  3. Start the Installer.
  4. During installation, it will ask you for the game executable you wanna use ReShade with. PUBG’s executable is located at the following path: SteamSteamAppscommonPUBGTslGameBinariesWin64Tslgame.exe.
  5. ReShade asks you to select a Rendering API. In most cases, you should select “Direct3D 10+”.
  6. It will ask if you want to download a preset collection of shaders, choose “Yes” and then, when the list of shaders shows up, select “Uncheck All”, so you can pick and choose only the ones you wanna use.
  7. Now you can select your shaders. For which shaders to pick, look in the section below.
  8. Start PUBG and press “SHIFT+F2” to get the ReShade control panel. Here you can activate and deactivate the shaders and fine-tune your look.
  9. Make sure you click “Settings” in ReShade. Go to “Usage Mode” and, in the drop down, select “Performance”. This allows you to change the look with only a small impact on performance (2-3fps). Doing this disables the ability to adjust the shaders, so, if you wanna change something, change the “Usage Mode” back to “Configuration Mode”.

What Shaders Should I Enable in ReShade for PUBG?

There are a few different schools of thought, but the most popular options seem to be the following:

Adaptive Sharpen + Technicolor2

This makes the colors pop more, and removes some of the inherent game blur. It works well for visibility. You can also make the colors less cartoonish by changing the Technicolor2 “Strength” slider in ReShade to 0.500.

Clarity + Vibrance + Colorfulness + Luma Sharpen

This is my personal setting, and it works well for me. It makes the colors quite cartoonish, but it sharpens everything nicely, and makes for pretty great visibility of enemies in the grass or wheat fields.

How Do I Remove ReShade?

If you don’t like ReShade or you think you’re taking too much of a performance hit, you can remove it entirely by following our quick and easy guide on how to uninstall ReShade.

In Conclusion

Hope this guide helps you avoid being surprised by your enemies and get that elusive chicken dinner! If you have a favorite streamer, you can find their graphics, sensitivity settings and gearhere.

If you have any tips or you have different methods that you use to improve visibility, please let me know in the comments and I will try to add them here!
